This week in our Critical Reading and Writing lesson we were writing some animal poems that were unusually factual. Here are two of them:

My Penguin

My penguin lives in Antarctica,
My penguin likes eating fish,
My penguin can lay eggs,
And eat fish.

My penguin can live to 15 to 20 years,
My penguin can lay one to two eggs,
My penguin is cute,
My penguin’s dangers are melting ice and pollution.

My Snowy Owl

My owl lives in North America.
My owl likes cool and warm climates.
My owl’s food is other small birds.
My owl can live nine years.
My owl can have three – five babies.
My owl doesn’t like hunting and powerlines.
