I believe that learning unlocks students’ potential, stretching their imaginations and enhancing their life skills, as well as increasing their intellectual abilities. Every student is unique, and I aim to bring out the best in each of them, whatever their interests, making lessons enjoyable and fun and encouraging them always to strive to improve. I want every student to discover the excitement of discovery and the satisfaction of achievement.
Clare Smout is based in England but has been a visiting workshop teacher in Hong Kong for over ten years. As an undergraduate, Clare studied Greek and Latin Literature and Culture at Oxford University. After 20 years working in theatre, including as a director and dramaturg, she took an MA in Shakespeare and Theatre. Since then, she has combined UK teaching and academic research with regular teaching in Hong Kong. She recently co-edited an academic book about the history of women in theatre and is continuing her lifelong commitment to learning by working on an M.Litt at the University of Oxford.
